UNMC & NEBRASKA MEDICINE

TREATING OUR COMMUNITIES. LIKE ONLY NEBRASKA COULD.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center and its clinical partner Nebraska Medicine know that our communities are calling out for health professionals, clinicians and scientists whose breakthroughs will transform the state of health in Nebraska and beyond. Together, we will create greater health equity for rural citizens and improved health for all our people.

FOR THE LIVES WE’LL CHANGE

Relentless Focus on Student Access and Success

Increased student support will help recruit and retain top students. By increasing access, reducing student debt and providing more enriching opportunities, UNMC will increase its capacity to meet workforce needs and continue to lead the nation in research and outreach.

FOR THE LEADERS WE’LL EMPOWER

Enhancing Faculty, Academic and Clinical Excellence

Faculty members are critical for the success of students and overall research enterprise, so recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty is a primary focus for UNMC. By supporting faculty, researchers and health care clinicians and their programs, we are also offering our students the best possible learning environment, providing them with a competitive advantage and preparing them for careers in a shifting landscape, for jobs that don’t yet exist.

FOR THE BREAKTHROUGHS WE’LL MAKE

Transformational Research and Innovation

UNMC has established itself as a desirable, innovative, visionary and learner-centered academic health sciences center for top-tier students and faculty alike. Clinical research allows patients seen at Nebraska Medicine to access more than 200 clinical trials each year, thus receiving the most advanced treatments available. As critical needs continue to grow, the academic and research opportunities available must meet the increasing demands.

FOR THE FUTURE WE’LL BUILD:

INVESTING IN OUR
SHARED VISION.

Philanthropy will accelerate the university’s impact across the state. It will make NU’s education affordable to more students and increase opportunities for experiences that connect students to satisfying careers. It will stimulate job and workforce growth in high-skill, high-demand and high-wage fields, and it will create greater health equity for rural citizens and improved health for all.

A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

“UNMC and Nebraska Medicine’s paramount responsibility is to improve people’s lives in Nebraska and beyond. We educate the next generation of health professionals and medical scientists, discover and develop lifesaving cures and treatments, and provide extraordinary care to our patients. It is both our mission and our privilege to work tirelessly to make the world a healthier place, both now and in the future.”

UNMC AND NEBRASKA MEDICINE’S
TOP 5 CAMPAIGN PRIORITIES

Scholarships and Graduate Student Support

Addressing the workforce shortage and critical health care needs of Nebraska requires aggressive recruitment and support of students. Competitive scholarships, fellowships and pipeline programs such as the rural health initiatives are key to recruiting and retaining top undergraduate and graduate students who will become future health care professionals and conduct research that addresses pressing health questions.

Endowed Faculty Support, Startup and Recruitment Packages

Faculty members play a critical role in the success of UNMC’s students by advancing research and inspiring innovation. Funding for endowed chairs, professorships and faculty recruitment and retention will elevate the excellence of UNMC.

Transformative Research, Discovery and Innovation

Centers of Excellence will build on the strengths of Nebraska Medicine and UNMC in cancer, immunotherapies, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disease, women’s health research, behavioral health, chronic care management, cancer prevention, health equity and other areas of importance to Nebraskans.

Nebraska Transformation Project (NExT)

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are poised to transform education and patient care. Project NExT will educate the next generation of Nebraska’s health care workforce and those responding to infectious disease, advance research and provide patients with the best quality care possible in a safe, modern and state-of-the-art environment.

Health Science Education Expansion Facility

UNMC must continue to expand its programs to meet the growing need for health care workers. The health science education facility will provide a home for new and expanding programs, such as those in the College of Allied Health Professions and in the College of Dentistry’s residency and training programs.
