Educating students and preparing them for the workforce is a core mission of UNL. Merit-based and need-based scholarships and fellowships are key to recruiting and retaining top students across campus. We must also continue to innovate and support transformative experiences, inside and outside the classroom, that remain relevant and produce a desire for lifelong learning.
The most important asset at UNL is its people, including faculty, postdoctoral fellows and staff. Elevating the quality of our university will come through increased funding for endowed chairs and professorships, faculty recruitment and support and academic programming. Faculty play a critical role in the success of our students, our research efforts, and our community outreach. Our future depends on their ideas and dedication.
Supporting interdisciplinary research, community engagement and workforce development (including public-private partnerships, innovation and entrepreneurship) is key. We will conduct novel and impactful research that generates new knowledge, solves real-world problems and enhances lives throughout Nebraska and beyond.
FOR THE FUTURE WE’LL BUILD
UNL is a major driver of educational, social, cultural and economic advancement in the state. Private philanthropy is the catalyst that allows the university to move the needle forward to meet UNL’s three-fold mission of teaching, research and service and responsibility to the state of Nebraska.
“To fulfill our promise to Nebraska as its flagship, land-grant institution, it is our responsibility to provide resources that elevate our students, helping them reach their full potential in pursuit of lifelong dreams. Now is the time for Husker Nation to build upon 15 decades of academic excellence, further distinguishing our great university as a place where students can flourish while pursuing big ideas and solving global challenges.”
Rodney D. Bennett, Ed.D., Chancellor, University of Nebraska–Lincoln
Scholarships and Graduate Student Support
UNL is committed to investing in its students as a top priority of the campaign. That includes substantially increasing the availability of need-based and merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students and providing competitive fellowships and assistantships for talented graduate students.
Endowed Faculty Support: Chairs and Professorships
Faculty members play the most critical role in the success of UNL’s students and overall research and engagement enterprise. Funding for endowed chairs, professorships and recruitment will support top faculty and innovative research.
College of Engineering and School of Computing
UNL aims to address the state’s severe shortage of engineers and computer scientists by investing in Kiewit Hall and creating a dedicated home for the School of Computing. It also aims to establish Kiewit Scholars, a full-tuition scholarship and cohort for exceptional engineering students.
World-class Arts Educational Experiences
By providing a new studio theater, enhanced guest entrance and renovated guest facilities, this campaign will expand the Lied Center for Performing Arts’ positive impact on the community and provide a new “wow” experience at Nebraska’s home for the arts.
Athletics Facilities, Student-Athlete Experience and Support
UNL is committed to offering excellence to student-athletes. The Osborne Legacy Complex will include a new locker room, strength complex, athletic medicine area, equipment room, meeting spaces for football student-athletes, and a new training table and academic and life skills center for all student-athletes.
It takes a lot to build a future, so let’s start the conversation now.
