The College of Arts and Sciences prides itself on providing a first-rate liberal arts education to more than 3,000 students. What distinguishes the college is a strong focus on interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving, which has resulted in unique programs in STEM education, interdisciplinary studies, human rights and Holocaust studies.

Scholarships are key to making higher education a reality for students from various backgrounds and helping all students graduate with minimal student loan debt.
The college believes one of its most important assets is its faculty. Classrooms of the Future
The college recognizes the critical need for a vibrant STEM workforce to devise solutions to tomorrow’s challenges. The hub for STEM education at UNO is the Durham Science Center, which is currently being transformed into a state-of-the-art facility to provide students of all ages with interactive and collaborative hands-on STEM learning experiences.
Academic Chairs and Professorships
The College of Arts and Sciences believes one of its most important assets is its faculty. Building on proven success recruiting talented faculty through prestigious chairs and professorships, the college aims to create additional offerings in crucial areas of study such as civic leadership, medical humanities, national security and mathematics.
School of Life Sciences
The college seeks to establish an endowed School of Life Sciences, which will spotlight the role of life sciences in improving human health and the environment. Faculty and students will engage in innovative educational experiences and cutting-edge research opportunities relevant to finding solutions for current and emerging health and environmental issues.
