UNK College of Business and Technology

Taking Care of Business. Like Only Nebraska Can.

Relentless Focus on Student Access and Success

Workforce development is essential to Nebraska’s future. We are uniquely positioned to attract individuals from both metro and nonmetro areas. Not only do the majority of our graduates remain in Nebraska, but most also begin their careers in rural areas, making additional funding for student scholarships and support vital.

Enhancing Faculty, Academic and Clinical Excellence

One of the most important assets we have is our people. Endowed fellowships, professorships and chairs can play a significant role in attracting top talent as well as retaining and rewarding top performers. Among these positions is the need for an endowed professorship or chair to lead the new Center for Technical and Professional B2B Sales.

Transformational Research and Innovation

The college hopes to create a space to bring together the collaborative elements of its four external-facing centers — the Career Center, Nebraska Business Development Center, Nebraska Safety Center and Center for Economic Education — to positively impact students, faculty research and economic development. These efforts will include a student-managed, faculty/practitioner-guided venture fund to fuel new business innovation.

FOR THE FUTURE WE’LL BUILD

INVESTING IN OUR
SHARED VISION.

The college strives to lead the economy of the future and improve the human condition. To reach our ambitious goals, we must focus on increasing scholarship resources, building faculty support and creating educational environments that meet the needs of today’s students. Only with donor support can we make the college a driving force for economic growth.

A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

“I believe that UNK and the College of Business and Technology, in particular, play a critical role for the state of Nebraska. With a laser focus on providing student-centered, experiential learning opportunities, we prepare our students for a seamless transition into their first jobs, while also providing the foundations they will use as lifelong learners through their careers.”

TOP CAMPAIGN PRIORITIES

Scholarships and Student Support

The college has proven it is effective in developing and placing its students. By focusing on student scholarships and support programs that include well-rounded experiences, we are investing in the future of Nebraska, particularly the rural areas of our state most in need of bright, enthusiastic minds.

Endowed Chairs and Professorships

High-quality programs are not possible without high-quality, student-focused faculty. Our teacher-scholars are often internationally respected, yet our faculty are distinguished by their passion for teaching. Attracting and retaining this talent is critical to our shared future.

Enhanced Learning and Engagement Spaces

Today’s facilities share characteristics with those of the past in that they must promote community inside and outside the classroom. However, the facilities of the future differ dramatically in terms of technology and in how they provide accessibility to diverse students near and far. The rapid pace of change means our facilities must change as well.

Rural Nebraska Hub for Entrepreneurship and Technical Sales

Creation of the Center for Technical and Professional B2B Sales will further support entrepreneurship and economic development in the state. Support for this center will allow students to gain essential experience with industry partners, travel to regional and national sales competitions and have access to state-of-the-art technology. Scholarships in this area will help the college attract and retain top students.
