Presidential Scholars Program

Leading The Way. Like Only Nebraska Can.

The University of Nebraska is committed to celebrating and recruiting Nebraska’s best and brightest students. In a meaningful representation of that commitment, the university is offering a total cost of attendance scholarship to Nebraska students who score a perfect 36 on the ACT or an equivalent SAT score of 1570 or above through the Presidential Scholars Program.

Relentless Focus on Student Access and Success

The Presidential Scholars Program will cover the full cost of attendance: tuition, fees, books, housing and all other costs of attendance. In addition, students receive a $5,000 stipend. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years (or the completion of a bachelor’s degree) at any University of Nebraska campus. And with such diverse campus experiences within the university system — from a land-grant institution (UNL) to a metropolitan university (UNO), from a close-knit campus in the heart of the state (UNK) to an innovative technical agriculture school (NCTA) or an academic health science center (UNMC) — every student can find their home at the University of Nebraska.

Retaining the Best and the Brightest

Nebraska is facing serious brain drain challenges, meaning our best and brightest students are choosing to leave the state for their academic and professional endeavors. At a time when there is an urgent need to elevate our state and fill critical workforce gaps with top talent, the University of Nebraska must provide opportunities and incentives for these students to further their educations and make significant contributions to the future of Nebraska. The Presidential Scholars Program will provide the incentive for these top-performing students to achieve their academic pursuits without leaving the state.

Believing in Our Shared Vision

Students who receive a perfect 36 ACT (or SAT 1570-1600) will automatically qualify. Pending funding availability, the program is also open through a competitive application to Nebraska high school seniors who have a 32-35 ACT (or equivalent SAT score). Private funds will support not only the inaugural program but also ideally the expansion of the Presidential Scholars Program, opening new doors for hundreds of students across Nebraska.
