The International Quilt Museum (IQM) is home to the world’s largest publicly held quilt collection. With objects dating from the 1600s and from more than 65 countries, we collect and exhibit works that represent quilts and quilt-making traditions from throughout history and around the world.
IQM partners with its colleagues across campus. We enable art students to see color, design and composition in a new format; provide objects for textile students to view and study; engage global study students; and offer museum study students the opportunity to practice what they learn.
We serve as a dynamic center of formal and informal learning and discovery for students, teachers, scholars, artists, quilters and others. Our comprehensive and accessible collection of quilts, related textiles and documents is a valuable resource for study, insight and inspiration.
In the growing field of quilt studies, IQM is an international leader. Research includes quilts at the intersection of a rich variety of topics, including identity, aesthetics, politics, religion and technology. Graduate students, globally renowned quilt experts, academics, writers and more come to explore the way textile arts and quilt-making traditions impact and illuminate thousands of years of design and culture.
FOR THE FUTURE WE’LL BUILD
With donor support, IQM has created an astonishingly diverse global quilt collection and an expert team of curators who create renowned exhibitions. The result? We are the only accredited quilt museum in the United States. Your support of IQM keeps a world-class collection and internationally recognized museum flourishing.
“Only in Nebraska can you find an international quilt museum that preserves, shares and celebrates thousands of quilts from every corner of the globe. We’re the only quilt museum of this stature and breadth in the world. Your gift to IQM makes you part of something truly unique and far reaching.”
