Graduate students play an essential role in the advancement of innovative research at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. The center aims to recruit and retain the best and brightest students whose abilities contribute to the cancer center’s goals in critical research areas.
Faculty members at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center come from around the globe, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with their students and impact the lives of patients. Endowed faculty positions are essential to attracting and retaining these talented clinical and research scientists.
Nationally recognized experts at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center are conducting groundbreaking research with the potential to transform cancer prevention and treatment and ultimately defeat cancer. These critical research areas include: precision medicine, targeted drug discovery, immunotherapy, cancer prevention and cancer survivorship. Private investment will build on this work and support several disease-specific cancer research centers of excellence, including breast, lung, pancreatic, prostate, leukemia and lymphoma, skin and colon.

Research Program Development Funds
Funds will bolster expansion of cancer research centers of excellence in strategic priorities and advance research in precision medicine, immunotherapy, drug discovery, cancer prevention and survivorship.
Nebraska Clinical Trials Network
Funds will support research nurses, data managers and the clinical research infrastructure at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and at hospitals and clinics so all patients across Nebraska have access to clinical trials.
Community Outreach and Engagement
Private support will enhance community partnerships to develop increased access to state-of-the-art cancer screening and cancer care.
Endowed Chairs and Professorships
Funds will be used to recruit 10-15 new cancer research faculty members to the cancer center, offering an essential means to attract and retain talented and experienced teachers, researchers and scientists.
Graduate Student Support
Philanthropic support will provide funding for annual stipends and research expenses for 10 cancer research graduate and postgraduate students/fellows, making a significant impact on the research capacity of the cancer center and its ability to attract the best and brightest minds.
