Relentless Focus on Student Access and Success
We will inspire generations of leaders by ensuring that the University of Nebraska is accessible to all students and can help every student achieve their goals. With your support, this campaign will raise $1.6 billion that will allow us to provide:
- new undergraduate scholarships to reduce the debt burden of students and continue to provide access to all;
- graduate fellowships to help us retain graduate students in research and teaching roles;
- expanded learning communities and other programs to serve first-generation students and all who would benefit from extra support services to ensure they earn a degree and in a timely fashion;
- expanded programs for transfer students and to support student health and well-being;
- updated facilities to help us offer contemporary, integrated, hands-on learning in every discipline for every student; and
- targeted programs and scholarships to address areas of workforce shortage such as health care providers, teachers, engineers and information technology.
Enhancing Faculty, Academic and Clinical Excellence
We will strengthen the educational experience by investing in our faculty and their academic and clinical programs, the university’s lifeblood and a source of intellectual capital for Nebraska. Through the generosity of our supporters, this campaign will raise $750 million to:
- create new endowed chairs and professorships across the university, to attract and keep preeminent educators in every field;
- invest in the academic programs of our preeminent educators;
- bring more clinical trials to patients;
- create economic growth and prosperity in our communities by supporting entrepreneurship and new business development programs across the university;
- expand the number of UNMC health care degrees available on the UNK campus; and
- partner with legislators and government entities to develop new innovative programs, such
as the Nebraska Transformational Project (NExT), a public-private partnership that would co-locate research and education under one roof to speed bench-to-bedside treatments for patients and create space for responding to future health and security disasters.
Transformational Research and Innovation
We will save lives and change lives by growing our expertise to meet these pressing needs of our communities and increasing our strength across every field of discovery. Raising $650 million in this campaign will allow us to:
- find innovative ways to address issues important to Nebraska such as closing the achievement gap between urban and rural schools;
- invest in research centers of excellence, particularly in areas where Nebraskans face higher incident rates, such as in cardiovascular disease and pancreatic cancer;
- continue our investments in our Food for Health initiative, expanding the use of crops as medicine;
- continue our investments in a more effective drug delivery pipeline to accelerate the creation of new drugs for chronic disease; and
- expand our already deep research in early childhood education, food and water security and agriculture, including crops, beef production and precision agriculture.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture is a key part of Nebraska’s agricultural economy, and with one out of every four jobs in Nebraska being in agriculture, its role in workforce development is critical to the state’s success.
