NCTA is a small campus with a big impact on Nebraska. NCTA aims to double its enrollment to 500 students, and key to this success is the renovation and expansion of The Barn into the new Student Success and Activity Center. By leveraging a generous match from Barbara and Wally Weitz, both big and small investments in this project will go even further.
FOR THE LIVES WE’LL TRANSFORM
A New Home for Aggie Excellence
The new NCTA Student Success and Activity Center will transform The Barn into a modern, efficient building offering a multi-use space for students to enjoy social activities, study together and receive services like tutoring and career counseling. Clubs and teams will meet there, creating more opportunities for students to develop skills in leadership, teamwork and communication while having fun. The new center will also replace an aging dining hall and kitchen currently in the basement of East Residence Hall. It will centrally locate the on-campus kitchen, a cafe and a coffee shop. The renovated building will host Discovery Days, graduations and judging events.
GROWING THE AG COMMUNITY
A New Hub for Campus and Community Life
The Student Success and Activity Center will be a central hub on campus and an important place for building community and bolstering the student experience.
Current plans include space for:
- Campus and community activities
- Classroom and meeting space
- Student services such as advising and career counseling
- A student career center and lounge areas
- Student activities, games and recreation
- A state-of-the-art kitchen and dining space
- A new home for Aggie Food Service
- A cafe and a coffee shop
FOR THE FUTURE WE’LL BUILD
“NCTA prepares students for a wide array of careers in agriculture and fills a critical workforce development need in a state where one in four jobs is related to ag. We want to see NCTA thrive, and this new building is an important milestone in its growth and in improving its infrastructure. The Student Success and Activity Center is a top campaign priority for NCTA.”
